Ladies and gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to inform you that on July 1, 2009 PhiloArt was founded in Mesnil-Follemrpise (France). PhiloArt will be a meeting place of philosophy and art. Since the beginning of pf philosophy people withdrew themselves from the stress of everyday life to the countryside in order to reflect together upon the meaning of life. PhiloArt stands in this tradition of contemplation. The philosophical starting point is the thought of Martin Heidegger. Heidegger has always said that his philosophy is about ways of thought and not works. During our weeks of contemplation we will try to follow Heideggers’s ways of thought in new directions.

PhiloArt is a cultural meeting place. Besides weeks of contemplation PhiloArt will also organize exhibitions and concerts. Philosophy receives impulses from art as a fundamental power in human life, art is enlightened by philosophy.

One of the most important goals of PhiloArt is to express philosophy in the form of films and exhibitions. PhiloArt uses the possibilities of the new media to help the human self understanding. A film about the life and work of the artist Otto Wesendonck is in production.

PhiloArt is a private initiative and relies to achieve its goals upon financial support. Therefore it is possible to support PhiloArt as friend with a yearly contribution of 50 euro. It is also possible to support PhiloArt as donator with 250 euro or as sponsor with an amount of 500 euro or more. Friends, donators and sponsors receive a circular every three months – donators and sponsors receive a free copy of every DVD PhiloArt produces.
